Prof Geraldine Boylan
Geraldine Boylan has a PhD in Clinical Neurophysiology from King's College London and is director of the Neonatal Brain Research Group at UCC http://neonatalbrain.ucc.ie. Much of Geraldine’s work is of an interdisciplinary nature and combines neurophysiology, engineering signal processing and computing research to address important neurological problems such as seizures, encephalopathy and stroke in newborn babies. Her group are also working to identify novel physiological and blood based biomarkers of neonatal hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy and preterm brain injury. She is co-coordinator of the FP7 funded NEMO study, Europe's first multi-centered randomised controlled trial of antiepileptic drugs for newborn babies http://www.nemo-europe.com/.
